"Our department head has decided just to forward them the entire
catalog of courses we offer and he's encouraged others to do
the same.  The latest information I have is that a legislator made
the request to the legislative research office, but that the rules
allow him/her (though I'm assuming the former) to remain anonymous.
Still, this never should have filtered down to department heads
- administration should have denied the request outright.  The good
thing is that, regardless of how individual faculty/heads feel about
the general topic, it's being read as an issue of academic freedom,
and resisted on that basis."
