You may add a comment on Odessa if you want. Unlike its ultra conserative counterpart, Odessa is somewhat liberal, not too much, but for West Texas it is. When someone moves to Odessa they will probably here a saying like: " The first whore house was in Odessa and the first bank was in Midland", go figure. Anyways the city with only a population of about 100,000 to date was boasting gay bars in the late 60's. The two cities are so close but yet so different socially. Midland may be a banking town, but Odessa has built the most authentic replica of the shakesphere theatre and is the only one of two that has a 4-year university. In Midland everything is about money but in Odessa it is about culture, higher education and a laid back attitude. Add a city. Be sure to tell why you think this place is liberal-friendly.
