 Liberal Place: Mount Shasta, CAThese are comments on Mount Shasta, submitted by other Turn Left visitors. They do not necessarily represent the opinion of the webmaster. You may add a comment on Mount Shasta if you want.  Mount Shasta, California, is a beautiful, small town, and liberal-friendly,
but less so than it was in the '80's.
Then it was a haven for the free-thinking and a playground for experimental paradigms. It's still wonderful! Though many of the hippies now have steady jobs and fit snugly in the dominant paradigm, they're still friendly to the unconventional. New faces are not so frequently seen at the Bagel House. There's a depressing, stagnant feeling. And there's always been an unimaginative segment of the population. Also, remember: not too long ago, Mount Shasta was openly racist; the Native American population was damn-near exterminated. But Squaw Meadow is still a fabulous place in the summer, to lie around naked all day long, meeting wonderful people from everywhere (bring warm, winter clothes for the night even in summer)! And nothing will ever beat Indian Hot Springs for mystical experiences and a natural out-door jacuzzi!
I'll always love Mount Shasta. It'll always be a magical place.
