It is the host of Peace With Justice Week, the annual national gathering of peace and justice activists held each October which is sponsored by 20 national human rights organizations and brings hundreds to Henderson each year. It was the first city in the state to protect city government employees from discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. It is the home of the famous W.C. Handy Blues Festival, a thriving arts community, historic buildings, and the John James Audubon Art Museum. Henderson has an organized and growing community of progressives. Add a city.
