You may add a comment on Hemet if you want. Haven't heard of it? Well, it's a small city about an hour west of Palm Springs. We are represented in Congress by Sonny Bono, which for many people would be bad enough. But for 4 years we had a Theocratic majority on our local school board. We managed to win a bare majority in the last election, but who knows what will happen next time. The previous school board passed an abstainence ONLY sex-ed program, which was filled with lies about sex, gays, boys and completely devoid of facts about AIDS and other STDs. They harrassed teachers, even firing a basketball coach because he divorced and remarried--not a good role-model. We were maybe the only school district in the country with a private investigator on retainer. One time my spouse and I were at a rally, sponsered by a local interfaith group to fight against the Religious Right, and he was there. When asked what he was doing there he replied "Just putting names to faces." You would have thought we were in Cuba. Add a city. Be sure to tell why you think this place is liberal-unfriendly.
